About That...

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but really, I've been quite busy in my uber popular life. Just kidding. I've mostly just been chilling with my colorblind/narcoleptic friend and my other extremely blonde brunette friend.
Out of all of my experiences last week (from 'Orange you glad I asked you to Preference" to "He likes me??"), there is one in particular that stands out in my mind.
On friday I went on a date with my French friend from Timp View. We had a fun filled evening of ice skating and Olive Garden planned. It fell just short of disaster.
My friend drives a red bug and is, from my point of view, just a hair shorter (thought he claims otherwise). Coming to pick me up was the first time he's ever been to my house, so, shortly after seven he calls me to make sure he's in the right place. I tell him what's out front and it turns out he's parked in front of the right house, so I hang up.
TEN MINUTES LATER: I receive a text: Should I come to the door?
Well duh!
DING DONG. My dad greets him, teases him lightly about his car, and asks what time I'll be home. My date nervously spits out a time and we walk out the door.
We get to his car and he starts to get in the car. I wait by the passenger side door. "Oh..." Come on...be a gentleman! You're French for goodness sake!!
Finally we're in the car. Do we leave? NO! He finishes up a text and then starts messing with his bluetooth. he apologizes for the wait and finally some music comes on...slow...boring...music.
After driving around for an hour and a half playing (the other couple thought there was no way into the skate rink when really there was) and playing sex (I got him all the way down to his pants and he got nothing on me!), we finally got the the skate rink. No, it was not closed. The other couple just didn't have enough sense to follow the DETOUR signs.
Skating was fun. I took the first half hour holding onto the edge and nearly swearing trying to get into the groove of things (the grippy things kept tripping me!), but finally we were skating around having a merry, old time!
After that we went to Olive Garden. There I found out that the my date's friend (the other guy in our double) was a druggy that's pretty much snuffed everything known to man. I also learned that Catholics don't eat meat on Friday and that apparently fish is NOT meat.
While waiting for our food (which, by the way, took over an hour to get to us), my date and his friend started talking in French and playing a game that I assume was inappropriate for they refused to tell us about.
After that he took me home--a half hour late. At least he walked me to the door.
Ya, I had fun, he's fun to talk to, but mostly it was a disaster. Where's the chivalry??

My Favorite Things

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings

These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
While all those are pretty nice, there are a few, substantial things that song is missing..

MY FAVORITE THINGS:

Sweat Pants: All the comfort of pj pants without the laziness.
Socks: They keep my toesies warm!
The Skinny Jean Dance: There's no other way to put on a good pair.
Bottomless Bags: Don't you just love those bags that EVERYTHING fits in? You go to the movie theater, sit down, and out pops a soda, popcorn, chips, and a candy bar--for you and four friends!!
Gym Bags: I'm an athlete. It's a necessity.
Chocolate Milk: Perfect for after practice!
Water: Refreshing!
Goldfish Crackers: The OFFICIAL Track Snack.
Sports Bras: Extra support without the obnoxious straps!
Bathrobes: It's a blanket..with SLEEVES!
Dogs: Nothing like coming home to a happy, slobbery face!
The Smell of Rain: We all love it.
The Smell of a Wet Track: Just as good as rain, but with the homey, sweaty smell of the track that I love.
When it's snowy and overcast at night and everything has that bright look about it, like the sun never set.
Dancing in the Rain: Makes getting wet a whole lot funnier.
Sitting by a warm fire when it's raining.
Those moments when silence says everything you can't.
When boys have pretty eyes: It makes them all the more attractive.
When boys have hot smiles: See above.
Seeing someone genuinely smile: I love making people happy.
Blankets and Fluffy Pillows: There's nothing better when you're sad or cold.
Bubble Baths: Makes a bad day so much better.
Hot Showers: The best part of waking up!
Fish: Random, but I LOVE watching them swim.
Stretching: It feels so good at any time of day, but especially when you are tired.
Massages: Best feeling ever. End of story.
Hair Ties: Every girl's best friend!
Cell Phone: You knew it was coming. It's how I stay current!
iPod: No one that's human can live without one.
Spikes: Runners know how important (and awesome looking) these shoes are.
Four Wheel Drive: So helpful in the snow!
Mud: I'm sorry, but it's just plain fun. Yes, it's a pain sometimes, but when you want to get dirty, it's fun.
Computers: They make life so much easier.
Mechanical Pencils: To get the same effect, you'd have to sharpen a normal pencil every 30 seconds!
Toast: I love toast. Love. So many options--cinnamon, honey, butter, jam, jelly, avocado...
Music: It makes my life move!
Boxers: They're SO comfy! And as a bonus, they come with awesome patterns and stuff on them! Why can't girl underwear be that cool?
Tampons: No one likes pads! Yuck!
Spandex: My new love. You can walk around in your underwear and no one thinks twice about it! It's shorts AND underwear at the same time! And they don't give you a wedgie, but I wouldn't suggest wearing them with skinny jeans.
And last of all, Hugs: They are my favorite. Nothing better than a big hug from a good friend (or an awkward hug from someone random) to make your day!!
These are a few of my favorite things!!

Awkward Moments

We all know them. That silent moment after someone says (or doesn't say) something. My life is full of those moments, but, unlike most of the population, I have learned to deal with them. They're now my favorite moments in the day. It's always fun to look back on awkward moments...and just laugh.

In the Bathroom:
*Julie goes into stall*
Handicapped Girl *knocking on door* "Does your toilet need to be flushed, Miss?"
Julie: "No...."
Girl: "Are you sure? Did you check?"

*Toilet Flushes*
Me: "NO!! I WASN'T FINISHED!!"

At Track:
Daniel: "Coach, I'm taking Hannah home."
Coach: "Does your mother know?"
Daniel: "Wha--Oh! COACH! NO! NOT LIKE THAT!!"

Long Jump Coach: "Get DIRTY Hannah!"

Lauren: "I think super defined abs on a girl are gross!"
Long Jump Coach: "NOT EVEN!"
